Black Movie Blogmas Day 7 W/ NaShaye

Black Movie Blogmas Day 7!! It’s official, I am officially in the Christmas spirit! This movie was sooooo freaking good. Ughh! I made a Christmas wish after watching. I am so loving this black Christmas movie binge! I even sat in the living room this time and turned on the Christmas tree and lights to watch this movie. You know set the tone. I smiled throughout the entire movie. Well, on the worth smiling parts. I just finished it and now I’m typing to Christmas music. Boyz ll Men, Let It Snow played first. Now This Christmas by Chris Brown is ringing throughout the speaker. Silent Night by The Temptations is next! I don’t know what this Christmas will bring but I’m cheerful and hopeful. And I firmly believe wishes and miracles comes true even more around this time. Because of the mass cheerful and joyful energy, the world is radiating. Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! Let’s get into this movie!

The Christmas Swap is a gem to watch with your family. Not only because Christian Keyes is in it. *Snickers. But because of the movie’s storyline. Gerry and Ellis are two brothers who differ in every aspect and form. And that differentiation has caused them to be rebellious against one another. Gerry is the older brother who stays in their hometown home to take care of their mother (who has Alzheimer’s) and he’s struggling. Whew! He’s been taking care of her since eleven years of age due to their father passing. Gerry pushed his dreams to the side to focus on family. He was so focused that his wife and mother of his child walked away from him. Which I think was so selfish of her. She claims it has never been about money or material possessions, but her words say otherwise. She tells him “You promised me a life of….” So, she’s pressuring him to sign the divorce papers, but he’s convinced they will work it out. Gerry! Let it go!! Let it ride! Meanwhile on the other side of the world Ellis is a big shot attorney out in LA and he’s financially stable. But he’s a little bit of an asshole. Not a whole one, a half one. He has a good heart, but success has gone to his head. He has a beautiful woman who is definitely a keeper, but he doesn’t know how to treat her. There is no tenderness. And he refuses to come home or answer the phone for his family. The brothers mother misses Ellis very much that she wishes three times for Ellis to come home. The next day eleven-year-old Gerry visits grown man Gerry and grants his wish of swapping places with his brother. The next day he wakes up in Ellis’s body and Ellis wakes up in Gerry’s body. Gerry is happy to wake up in a nice home and to be able to drive a nice car and to shop using a black card. Ellis on the other hand is fairly unhappy because he’s back in the home he grew up in. Funny part is he doesn’t know how to take care of his mother like Gerry does. She almost drives him crazy. The two brothers clean up each other’s life just by being themselves without being themselves? Does that make sense? I hope so. Gerry charms his brother’s girlfriend and treats her as a lady should be treated without overstepping the boundaries of Bro code. But the one thing he was missing was family. He also cleans up the mess that was happening at the firm surrounding Ellis. Two men were trying to get Ellis in trouble and Gerry handled it with grace. Ellis, while in Gerry’s body handled the divorce situation with his brother’s ex-wife. He also got Gerry a law internship to help him get back to doing what he loved. Ellis bonded with his nephew and with his mom. Reminding him of how much he loved and missed his family. The brother’s switched back and seems like they learned their lessons. Ellis promises to visit family more, to be nice to his woman and to get his head out of the cloud. Gerry leaves his ex-wife for the birds, gets closer to his son and gains the motivation to chase his dreams. The end!

I loved this movie. I love how relatable this movie is. Sibling rivalry is so common, especially in black households. Because we simply have to overcome and beat the odds. Especially growing up in a small hometown full of struggle. This movie inspired me to stay connected to family no matter the success. And to chase after your dreams no matter how much you love your family. Don’t push your dreams to the side for family. There is a balance. Great movie! Great movie. And that Chrisitan Keyes is delicious to look at. I tell you! See for yourself.

BMB Day 7 was awesome! Merry Christmas!!!! See you tomorrow! 🙂
